ascots are the new cowl... or just as wonderful

its my plan to knit my ass off this summer, & i've already given myself a bit of a head start, i really hope to inspire myself for a big fall update for the yarnovermovement etsy shop because honestly i'm gonna start pulling my hair out if i can't make more of a go of this... as i begin re-doing my resume, & knowing that i can no longer hope to jsut work from home, getting laid off sucks, & finding a new crappy job sucks even harder... it would be my biggest dream come true to really get back alittle tiny bit of everythign i put into my two etsy babies (yarnovermovement & darling brigade!)...oh etsy are you listening , i need a gift guide feature, oh puhleease... jsut a littel luck is all i'm asking for these days...economy be damned...

non-knitters beware, boring knit talk :i can't stop myself from knitting these classic ascots... its a timeless vintage pattern, that has remained true..knitters you can find it on martha stewart, also the same pattern for sale on the purl bee, also try ravelry, & just google searches, its out there, its pretty much all the same, can't mess with a good thing & has so many possibilities, (as i'm going to figure out)... i'm doing my research & trying to find appropriate vintage stitch patterns to mess around with for these ascots, most appropriately 30s-40s i know they are out there... if you see any please drop me a line...
ps. these pics are funny to me, because i have to go out on my balcony (lighting), with my ol' man with camera in tow, and w/ all the guys working construction on the apartment across from us, & also everyone else on their balconies can see, so i have no time but to get a few very posed pics, hope they turned out (no double-chin, thats my criteria really!) & hope you can't see the sheer embarrassment of wanting to curl up in a ball on my face...)

Oh Etsy... the ebb & flow of it. I'm having a good week but I know it won't last and I'm trying to work my fingers as fast as they'll go... but it's SO HARD!

I also love your huge scarves, but it's so rainy here I feel one would just get ridiculously sodden...

  8. PS. I didn't realize you had them up already! So I stuck to my word ;)

Also, I really love that first picture you posted. She reminds me of a cross between my mum and Amanda Palmer which is a fantastic combination indeed.

  9. Lovely photos. I've made one of those neck thing-ys too, they're fun. I think any kind of non-curling stitch would work, like a seed stitch.

  11. this was still open in my google reader so i'm back... and just read that part about shooting and neighbours. yup. with me it's people mowing their lawns. i sort of pretend i'm not doing what i'm doing which is ridiculous. then just give in and do my thing. they're probably all taking photos of themselves for the internet too.

  12. i love your balcony photos; when you're feeling silly or self-conscious, just give the workers a look like the girl in the first photo! that should do it!
