closet grab

i've mentioned once before, the nostalgia i've felt in passing on a dress from the past, especially one that looked well damn amazing & had memorable nights out ,ect... & i'm sure that marissa shares those same feelings, & you can see peeking into her shop stylebook on etsy that it is a dedication of her thrifting love for all things cute, & all things once worn in absolute fun. i've adored her flickr posts, which grace us with her many, many, many delightful & witty vintage pieces, i've had the pleasure of owning a few of her items myself, & am grateful we can raid from her closet. just wanted to share a shop i know that has some dresses with a real past, i love the idea of passing things on.all photos c/o stylebook,
& outfits shown on marissa are for sale!

"i smiled at the memories i made in some of this stuff! who's next??", marissa

just in the neighborhood

i admit it, etsy is a tough neighborhood, & even tougher when you would like to be noticed, & so here's a few tips i passed on recently to someone who asked, & i hope that they do help. (crosses fingers)

renew, renew, renew....
simply put, i renew one item in my shop once a day, its the first thing i do, really! why? well, its .20 to renew an item a day, & that is approx $6 a month for what could be considered cheap advertising. also, its important to realize that etsy searches items by most recent date added, & it takes noting to be in the far reaches of never being seen, this way i hope to be in the more recent searches, can't hurt.

post it at home...
other things, that have really helped me is owning a small, cheap scale, mine is even a food scale, it doesn't have to be an expensive postal scale. in this way, when i need to ship an item, & i want to ship it as quickly as possible, & if you live paycheque to paycheque it isn't always easy to take that postage from your own pocket. in this way i can ship my items from paypal/canada post online, & the money is taken directly from that shipping amount, i never feel it like i used to. also it elimates all that waiting in line at the post office, & i have the assurance for my customers of an item id reference # on every parcel.

personally, i'm sure there is alot of luck to this, & getting noticed is the big one, & trying to remain optimistic & patient, nothing happens overnight, well not usually...

heartfelt handmade indulgences

its been ages, (really a long, long time) since i've splurged on really anything for myself, (well who can afford it?).
yet today i was so inspired by anabela's recent sincere & very heartfelt posts on the itergrity of handmade & that of the handmade seller & buyer, (posts are here & here), that i couldn't resist the temptation any longer. also, i really am not feeling all that guilty either, since it was some recent items i sold in my own lil etsy shop, that made these indulgences possible, & so in the end i'm just giving a hug back to teh beloved handmde community, it's karma, or somethin'. ok so now soemone has to want soemthing i knit right;)
