on my bookshelf: L'Assommoir

i'm really kicking myself that it isn't until now that i've just started to read Émile Zola.
i am starting with the first one that was available on the library shelf, which was L'Assommoir,
themes of alcoholism & povery in a working-class district of Paris.

  3. I have recently had the exact same revelation - I was actually looking for the one you mentioned but they didn't have it so I am reading Thérèse Raquin. So far it's pretty amazing.

P.S. I love your blog and knits! I have read for a long time but this is my first comment.
