"give away everything you know..."

in my own conscience effort to avoid hoarding my ideas, & somewhat doing my own version  of business related research, reading this book: it's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be, by paul arden. i've taken the advice seriously to "give away everything i know...", & so along with the "good night, day: modern & minimalist knitting patterns" booklet (nothing like the printed word) & the new knitting kits, i've set up downloadable pdfs on my ravelry too.
it might seem crazy to some, why would i want to give my own competitors a chance to rip off my patterns, but in regards to this  it really only pushes me to work on newer ideas, & i don't want to feel i am competing, & i am personally emotionally sick of worrying in that kind of mindset. i've really only ever truly appreciated all of the help & also all of the shared business knowledge i've received from others, nothing beats getting some help along the way.
(more patterns to come, having to re-write from my sloppy writing & turn into pdfs)

(above, the petawawa cable toque, get the knitting kits (w/ the south american fair trade wool i use), also

  1. So cool! Will you be adding more patterns or just what is up there?

  2. This is very true. Always good to share ideas, even if your not giving away trade secrets!

I know its always very disheartening when artists are hostile regarding this, and ask like your trying to steal their methods when you appreciate their work :)

  3. Awesome! I love this philosophy. Now, if only I had more ideas to share, I'd do the same.

  4. Great reading! Is that a page from "It's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be"?
